Youssef Ramadan’s six-medal week at the African Championships

Egypt’s Youssef Ramadan left the 2026 African Swimming Championships in Oran with a medal record that covered sprint freestyle, butterfly and relay racing.

World Aquatics lists Ramadan under Egypt and records six medals at the championship: four gold, one silver and one bronze. The results matter because they came across several event types rather than from one race alone.

The 50m butterfly win is the clearest snapshot of Ramadan’s sprint range. World Aquatics lists 23.68 as his long-course personal best in that event, achieved in Oran on 6 May 2026. Its profile also records his 100m butterfly national record as 49.31 in a 25m pool from the 2024 World Aquatics Swimming Championships. Those are different pool lengths, so they should not be compared as like-for-like performance markers.

For Egyptian swimming, the Oran campaign showed the value of an athlete who can contribute in individual sprints and relay line-ups over the same championship week. The official record confirms the medals and dates without turning a heat placing into a final result.
